Welcome Aboard Friends:
This is where your future starts. Keep your minds open and be perceptive to thinking “outside of the box.” This is your opportunity to be leaders in this field and not repeaters of past trends. On reflecting on my life and how I arrived at this place, know that you too can arrive at your destination through determination and perseverance.
It all started in my apartment in the projects as a “kitchen-tician” where I utilized my family and friends as models to practice and showcase my creative hairstyles. One day, I hoped to share with others eager to learn this trade that has made a dramatic economic impact in my life and in the world. That’s where my dream began and how I turned that dream into reality.
At a young age I have always had the determination and drive to succeed and to share my success with those who desired the same things in life. Life wasn’t easy working and going to school full-time, as well as raising a child alone, but through perseverance and my faith in the Lord, He made a way.
I received my formal education at Myers Beauty School and Savannah Barber & Styling Institute (under the guidance of founder Hezekiah Hudson). In 1998, I received my license as a Master Barber and Cosmetologist. My career began to soar working as a Barber and Cosmetologist throughout Savannah. On August 18, 2001, I became co-owner of Heavenly Hair Studio. During these past eight years I have had four apprentices under my guidance and it was then that my determination to be an Instructor and open a Cosmetology School became a goal.
On August 7, 2006 I graduated from Johnson’s School of Cosmetology in Statesboro, Georgia and received my Instructor License. At the 2008 Black Business Expo, I received the “Entrepreneur Success Story Award” from the Savannah Entrepreneur Center (sponsored by E 93 and Magic 103.9). My dream, Heavenly Hair Beauty Academy, became a reality and now my goal as one of The Beauty Industry Educators my goal is to educate and motivate young entrepreneurs in this highly competitive field to soar to new heights.
I could not have done any of this without the help of those who stood in my corner and gave me the opportunity to grow. Most of all, I want to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for which none of this would have been possible! When prayers go up, truly, blessings come showering down! Dreams really can come true if you just have faith and believe in yourself! So enter to learn all you can and depart to serve and take control of your career.
